Honoring of Medicare recipients and personal stories.

November 1945: Harry Truman proposed a national health insurance plan.

July 1965: Lyndon Johnson signed the Medicare expansion of Social Security into law at the Truman Library in honor of the man who began the push to provide medical care without regard to ability to pay. Johnson said it "all started really with the man from Independence."
