Picturing History: Art and the American Presidency
A Multi-Media Program

Portraying President Harry S. Truman, Starzmann uses photographs, paintings, prints and sculpture to engage audiences in the history of the American Presidency.

- The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Missouri, February, 2010.
- Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, Brattleboro, Vermont, September, 2010.

Dear Ray,
I can’t thank you enough for your terrific presentation last night at our museum. I have already heard from two people in attendance who wanted to let me know how much they enjoyed it, and how grateful they are to the museum for bringing you here. Well, of course, we are the ones who are grateful...to you!

Your talent, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the topic of Art and the American Presidency shine through in your performance and are a wonder to behold. I especially loved Sargent’s portrait of Theodore Roosevelt, the story behind it, and the photo of T.R. and his brother watching Lincoln’s funeral procession.

On behalf of all of us here at BMAC, as well as those who attended your presentation last night, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I eagerly look forward to our next opportunity to work together.
